INDICATIONS Persistent Bronchospasm (Asthma), COPD exacerbation

Mechanism of Action
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Inhibits iteration of acetylcholine at a receptor sites of bronchial smooth muscle (in the lungs), resulting in decrease contractility of the bronchial smooth muscle and a decrease in mucous production.

Contraindications
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity of Ipratropium, atropine, alkaloids, peanuts.
Note: New manufactured has eliminated the contraindication pertaining to peanut and soy allergy.

Adverse Effects
ADVERSE EFFECTS
Headache, dizziness, nervousness, fatigue, tremor, blurred vision, cough, dyspnea, worsening COPD symptoms, tachycardia, palpitations, flushing, MI, dry mouth, NV, GI distress.

Dose and Administration
DOSE AND ADMINISTRATION ADULT 250 - 500 mcg (.25 to .5 mg) inhalation with nebulizer every 20 minutes up to 3 times PEDI same as adult
