Modes of communication
Verbal- word choice, voice volume, attitudes effective listening
Non verbal- eye contact, touching, facial expressions, physical appearance, body language, gestures
Patient education
-What to expect, include how the patient can assist
-Time frame, restrictions(diet and eating)
-Tell them about preps and post procedure information
-Clear and concise communication with terms they will understand
-Be able to answer questions about other imaging modalities like dose differences, types of radiation and patient preps

Peds- get down to the childs eye level. Don’t take away their toys
Geri- Do not shout or assume the patient is senile or hard of hearing. Go slow and don’t rush them.

Physical- visually impaired, hearing problems
Traumatic-pain and shock and alters a patients response
Cognitive- trouble remembering
Stress- can cause patient to be distracted and the fear of the unknown
