Inflight Guide Flashcards
What does “Unrestricted” flying status mean?
Weather and facilities permit full use of all training areas for both dual and solo missions
“Restricted with remarks”
Weather and/or facilities do not permit full use of training areas, VFR patterns, or outlying instrument facilities
“Wing Solo” minimum weather and rules?
AGL ceiling and vis: 2500 and 3
In flight vis: 5 miles
Formation solos will remain clear of clouds
Contact solos must remain in Sunfish pattern
“Pattern Solo” minimum weather and rules?
AGL ceiling and vis: 2500 and 3
In flight vis: 5 miles
Weather permits VFR pattern operations, including breakout and re-entry
Solo students must remain in Sunfish pattern
“Dual” minimum weather and rules?
AGL ceiling and vis: 2500 and 3
No solo student permitted airborne
Weather permits VFR pattern operations, including breakout and reentry
“Restricted Overhead” minimum weather and rules?
Pattern AGL ceiling and vis: 1500 and 3
Low key AGL ceiling and vis: 2000 and 3
MARBLE or STENNIS AGL ceiling and vis: 2100 and 3
-Pattern entry made via straight-in from radar termination point, initial takeoff, or closed/crosswind from the center runway
-Max of 8 aircraft in RSU pattern
-NO BREAKOUTS. Pattern Straight-Ins require Sup, SOF, and RAPCON coordination
“Contact Recoveries” weather minimums and rules?
Pattern AGL ceiling and vis: 1500 and 3
MARBLE or STENNIS AGL ceiling and vis: 1600 and 3
-Plan on reporting initial for the active runway (may request straight-in from radar termination, if desired)
-Cancel IFR no later than radar termination
-No breakouts or ELPs; minimize VFR patterns (3 max)
-Follow tower instructions for pattern spacing. Make all pattern requests with tower (e.g. crosswind turn & closed request)
“VFR Straight-In” weather minimums and rules?
Minimum AGL ceiling and vis: 1500 and 3
MARBLE or STENNIS AGL ceiling and vis: 2100 and 3
-Pattern entry made via straight-in from radar termination and all landings will be a full stop
“IFR recoveries” weather minimums and rules?
Published minimums for the circling approaches to the inside runway (13R/31L)
-Fly published circling approach to circle full-stop on the inside runway
“Slots” weather minimums and rules?
-Lowest compatible approach minimums
-Plan recovery to land within designated landing window
-Plan all approaches to a full stop. Coordinate radar delays, multiple approaches and cross-country / out and backs through SUP to the SOF
“Recall” weather minimums and rules?
-Coordinate launches with SOF
-Conditions necessitate an orderly recovery flow
-See page 57 for airspeeds and procedures (250 knots for Ops/Wx recall)
-SOF will coordinate with RAPCON to recover aircraft in desired order
-All aircrew will request recovery from area or outlying fix. Expect delays
“Area Hold” rules?
-Stop all launches
-see page 57 (climb to the top of the area block, cease maneuvering, hold near the center at max endurance speed ~120 KIAS)…
“T-6 Recoveries Suspended Until Further Notice” rules?
-Launches will continue at discretion of the SOF
-Aircrew will continue normal maneuvering until reaching BINGO+100#, then will comply with AREA HOLD
“Standby” rules?
-No local aircraft airborne
-All local flying is suspended for an indefinite period of time until conditions improve to support a better status
“Gunshy Operations” weather mins and rules?
Minimum AGL and vis: 2500 and 3
-6 aircraft in the pattern
-Must be able to maintain VFR after cancelling IFR when entering Gunshy, and be able to maintain VFR until receiving an IFR clearance when leaving
High Key Departure Procedures: If an FCF is departing, all other aircrew will _____ and not call _____. Aircrew will maintain runway heading until _____ and then turn crosswind.
carry straight through initial
“break point straight through”
1 mile past the departure end
Emergency Aircraft Procedures: If put in place by the controller, all aircrew will _____, follow the normal ground track, and maintain ____. Aircrew will call initial over UHF ch.2 with ____ lbs of fuel or less
carry straight through initial
radio silence
300 lbs or less
T-6s must have SOF approval to fly center runway approaches, except for when?
Slots
Runway Change Procedures
15 min: Solos with less than 600# directed to?
10 min: Aircraft with less than 500# (300# if GTR is open) must?
05 min: What is no longer allowed?
00 min: Sunfish directs aircraft in pattern to climb and maintain?
15 min: Solos must FULL STOP if less than 600#
10 min: Aircraft must FULL STOP or depart the pattern (if less than 500#/300#)
05 min: No more radar entries to VFR pattern. No pitchouts expect for FULL STOPs. No High Key
00 min: Sunfish directs aircraft in pattern to climb and maintain 2200’ MSL. Depart pattern on the turn to downwind and execute VFR re-entry procedures for the new runway
What is important to note about the times for runway change procedures?
Times are for mission planning only. Accomplish only when directed by RSU/Tower
Index of Thermal Stress Restrictions
What is Caution Zone?
- IP accomplishes exterior inspection on spare aircraft
- Solo students may accomplish a second exterior inspection if physically fit
- Limit ground ops to 90 minutes (time outside of A/C environement)
- Avoid exercise four hours prior to takeoff
Index of Thermal Stress Restrictions
What is Danger Zone?
- Ground operations limited to 45 minutes (time outside A/C environment)
- Maximum of one spare (two exterior inspections) on initial dual sorties
- Solo students are authorized only one exterior inspection per sortie
- Wait in the line shack if spare aircraft not ready
- Minimum recovery time between flights is two hours (landing time to next T/O time) if BOTH landing and T/O are under ITS danger)
