Immunosuppressants Flashcards
Calcineurin inhibitor. binds cyclophilin. Blocks T-cell activation by preventing IL-2 transcription. prevent transplant rejection. Nephrotoxic.
Cyclosporine
Calcineurin inhibitor. binds FKBP. Blocks T-cell activation by preventing IL-2 transcription. prevent transplant rejection. Nephrotoxic and increase risk of diabetes.
Tacrolimus
mTOR inhibitor. binds FKBP. Blocks T-cell activation and B-cell differentiation by preventing IL-2 signal transduction. Kidney transplant rejection. non-nephrogenic.
Sirolimus (Rapamycin)
mAb. blocks IL-2R. kidney transplant rejection prophylaxis. Edema, HTN, tremor.
Basiliximab
antimetabolite precursor to 6-MP. block purine (A,G) synthesis. inhibit lymphocyte proliferation. transplant rejection and auto-immune. Myelosuppression.
Azathioprine
inhibit NF-xB. block cytokine transcription (both T and B-cells). transplant rejection, autoimmune, inflammation. Cushing-like syndromes
Glucocorticoids
Epoetin alfa (APO)
treat anemia
Thrombopoietin
treat thrombocytopenia
Oprelvekin (IL-2)
treat thrombocytopenia
