What is employee engagment and involvment
The extent to which employees feel that they can genuinely influence the day to day running or an organisation, and outcomes they achieve.
(these people will probably go on to staying with the organisation for longer)
What is talent development
Helping the staff in a business realise their full potential so they maximise their productivity, and are able to improve their contribution to an achievement of an organisation’s objectives. The implications here are long term development of an individual’s potential.
(this will most likely lead to having the staff stay with the organisation for longer, whilst also having their productivity levels very high)
What is training
Ensuring that employees have the skills necessary to be successful in their job roles.
Induction training
On the job training
Off the job training
(this will lead to high quality outputs from staff)
What is diversity
Discrimination in terms of gender, race, age, sexual orientation or religion is illegal, but many organisations are finding a more diverse workforce that enables them to better meet the needs of their customers.
Not only should diverse people be treated well anyway, but it makes a lot of sense for businesses to employ these types of people, as these people may have the same interests as the customers etc.
What is the deffinition of elignment of values
Helping employees understand the values of a business, and for the business to reflect the values held by employees.
The business might start to reflect the employees views
This can lead to motivation being raised
What is the deffinition of “Number, skills and location of employees”
Ensuring the organisation has sufficient resources to enable it to achieve its corporate objectives and match supply to demand
In other words: Has a business got the right number or employees that will satisfy the businesses consumer needs
Can the business meet current and future levels of demand with the current workforce?
What are other HR objectives
Maximising labour productivity - trying to get the most productivity out of employees (maximising the amount of units they produce, customers that they satisfy etc)
Minimising labour costs - Will allow the business to generate greater profits
Maintaining positive employee relations
