What is the consequence of quickly opening 2301-4 vlv?
May cause water hammer
Why must the 2301-4 valve not be left in mid stroke?
Mid position for extended periods can damage the valve
Which HPCI System oil pump is recommended for extended use on turning gear operation? Why?
Preferred to use EOP due to loading on 250VDC system
Why must HPCI Turbine be rotated as soon as possible after coming to rest?
Prevent rotor distortion
Why must 2301-64 and 65 valves be closed prior to opening the 2301-3 valve?
These vavles vent steam to HPCI Room Sump and if not isolated may admit RX steam to HPCI room
Hi room temps may cause HPCI Isolation
Why must rx pressure vessel be 50 psig above HPCI pump discharge priot to switching from pressure control mode to level control mode?
Prevent large uncontrolled injection of cold water into vessel
DO NOT AUTO INITIATE IF NEEDED FOR PRESSURE CONTROL
What is significance of leaving 2301-14 valve open for extended periods of time?
If HPCI suction aligned to CST, then CST will gravity drain to Torus
Based on Turning Gear engagement, is the HPCI Operable?
If HPCI turning gear is left engage, following last test, then control room engagement is illuminated. THis is acceptable and operability not affected.
IF HPCI turning gear CANNOT be engaged from MCR, then HPCI System is still operable
HPCI OIL PRESSURE MSUT BE >7#, CV closed, and turbine speed less than 4rpm for TG to autoengage
How does HPCI respond if “AUTO INITIATE” PB depressed but released before MSC reaches HSS?
IF HPCI PB used to initiate, then if not held until MSC reaches HSS, then MGU won’t be able to control turbine speed since MSC and MGU feed into a low value gate
What are teh action points for HPCI Room Temperature?
If during surveillance, room temp reaches 120F, contact system Engineer (NOT INOP)
IF area tem exceeds 120F, verify HPCI Room Cooler starts
IF HPCI Rm cooler fan will not run, declare HPCI INOP
starts at 100F
IF Cooling flow not received, NOT INOP
