CRD Startup Flashcards
What is the CRD Pump Amperage limitation and what can cause exceeding this?
Max Pump Current limit is 39amps
Can be caused by Runout from initially charging accumulators, maximized drive pressure or Rx injection, pump seizure, and improper valve position
When would two CRD pumps be run continuously?
Only as directed by DEOP (ARI, vessel makeup)
How is CRD system flow adjusted to establish cooling water diff pressure?
Adjust fcv and drive water pressure control valve (8 vlv)
What CRD components are cooled by TBCCW?
CRD Pump thrust bearing and oil cooler
What CRD component ensures Pp amperage will not exceed amperage limits on scram? What is amp limit?
Amp limit is 39A.
2(3)-0301-25 is throttled (Downstream of RO on charging water header).
Why must RPS be reset prior to starting CRD and charging accumulators?
Due to valve lineup following a scram, all water will be directed to SDV, not the accumulators.
What happens when SDV becomes full?
Water is directed to RPV.
How much water is sent to RPV by CRD when SDV is full?
About 80 gpm - limited by throttling -25 vlv
What must be done before starting first CRD pump if it had been previously drained?
manually rotate to sweep air pockets and prevent hydraulic imbalance
How is CRD Pp Axial Shuttling prevented?
Maintaining pump flow at ~100gpm
What is normal CRD Cooling water pressure? what happens if it exceeds this?
18-37psid. If it exceeds 35psid, then control rods may not settle normally and if it exceeds 60psid, then control rod insertion may occur
What are CRD Pump Temp Limits?
135F - increse flow to reduce temps
140F - secure pump
If >90 CRD HCUs are hydraulically isolated, what SHALL BE DONE?
DO NOT start CRD Pump
DO NOT swap CRD Pump
SECURE OPERATING PUMP
What is normal CRD Pump suction pressure trip?
Maintain at >13inHG vacuum to avaoid trip of both pumps - ACTUAL TRIP is at 18inHg vacuum
