SE: hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia, elevated BP
Chondroitin
Uses: dry eyes, OA
Interactions: Warfarin- increased risk for bleeding
SE: N/V
Echinacea
Uses: cold/flu, stimulate immune system, wound/skin problems
Interactions: MS, TB, increases caffeine concentration
SE: rashes, increased asthma, anaphylaxis, GI irritation
Ginko biloba
uses: memory impairment, PAD
Interactions: A/C increase risk of bleeding, decrease efficacy of alprazolam, anticonvulsants
SE: spontaneous bleeding, HA, dizziness, skin reactions
Flaxseed
Uses: constipation, DM, hypercholesterolemia, menopausal symptoms
Interactions: Warfarin, ALL ORAL DRUGS (SPACE THEM OUT)
SE: can cause constipation if not consumed with enough water
Ginseng
Uses: improve health and recovery of illness, increase stamina, DM, Respiratory infections
Interactions: Warfarin, additive affects with DM meds, MAOIs
SE: GI, sleep issues
Garlic
uses: HTN, hyperlipidemia, CAD, GI Cancers
Interactions: Warfarin, oral contraceptives
SE: mouth/GI burning, flatulence, diarrhea
Coenzyme Q-10
Uses: CHF, HTN, Migraines, MI
Interactions: Warfarin, additive effect with HTN meds
