What is a psychiatrist?

A

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who receive specialized training in mental health problems while in medical school. A psychiatrist is a physician who can diagnose and treat mental disorders. Psychiatrists find out a person’s symptoms, order medical tests to rule out any physical conditions, and prescribe treatments for the mental illness. They use a variety of treatment options.
