- lateral neck mass
What is thyroglossal duct cyst
midline neck mass that enlarges with upper respiratory tract infection. it elevates with swallowing and tongue protrusion
What is Xerostomia
It is dry mouth. sjogre syndrome (Autoimmune disease)
What are the medication for Xerostomia
anticholinergics and antihistamine.
What are the complications of Xerostomia
Complications- dental caries, candidiasis, difficulty swallowing and speaking
What is sialadentitis
Inflammation of salivary glands, Viral MCC ( mumps) outflow obstruction
What are the risk factors for sialadentitis
risk factors - sjogre syndrome, HIV, anorexia/bulimia, sialolithiasis ( salivary gland stone) Clinical (acute onset pain and edema of parotid or submandibular glands, fever, leukocytosis
What is sialolithiasis
Salivary gland stone that is most common in submandibular gland
What are the causes of sialolithiasis
due to duct stenosis through dehydration, diabetes, hypercalcemia.
What ae the manifestations of sialolithiasis
the clinical is pain and tenderness, intermittent swelling related to meals, digital palpation and reveal pre scene of calculus.
