Classification: H1- receptor antagonist, ethanolamine derivative (antiemetic, antihistamine, anticholinergic)
Medication Purpose: Motion sickness, nausea, vomiting, vertigo
Route: PO, IV
Side Effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, blurred vision, fever, anaphylaxis
Metabolized: Liver
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity gravidarum, Meniere’s syndrome

Nsg. Considerations: Monitor VS, BP, assess for signs of toxicity, observe for drowsiness, dizziness, do not breastfeed (excreted in breast milk).
Health Teaching: Advise pt. to avoid hazardous activities (dizziness may occur), avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
