Why do we set goals
-used as motivation
-increased confidence
-persistence (not getting distracted)
-control anxiety/arousal/stress
-direction towards goal
-develop skills,tactics and technique
Name the different types of goals and describe them
Outcome/product goals-these goals concern the end result and are success-based
Performance goals-goals that are judged against other previous performances in an attempt to improve personal achievements
Process goals-goals that are concerned with improvements in technique
What are SMARTER goals
Specific-goal must be specific to skill, component of fitness, part of the body etc
Measurable-goals must be measurable so you can tell if you achieve or fail (scores, heights, times)
Achievable-goals must be challenging but realistic
Realistic- goals must be challenging but realistic
Time bound-working to a specific timescale,
relates to achievable
Evaluate- assess whether or not the goal has been achieved
Re-do - try again if goal is unreached
