Define cohesion
The tedency for individuals to work together to achieve their goals,the force that keep the group members on task

Environmental factors:

Personal factors:
-similarity of group members
-acceptance of roles
-fitness
Leadership factors:
-leader style
-Leaders (team relationship)
Team factors:
-desire for success
-team stability/status
-team ability
-group productivity
-shared experience
Define task and social cohesion
Task cohesion-individuals working together to achieve an end result
Social cohesion-individuals relating to each other to interact in the group
What is Steiners model of team performance and what is the formula
It proposes that the results of group efforts could be based on an equation that sums uo the influences on cohesion
Actual productivity=potential productivity-losses due to faulty processes
Define all the conpenents of steiners model
Actual productivity-the outcome of the group (win,loss,draw)
Potential productivity-the best performance based on player ability
Faulty processes-the things that go wrong to reduce group outcomes and prevents group potential being reached
Strategies to promote group cohesion
-give players clear roles
-team building activities (socialising)
-evaluate individual performances to avoid social loafing
-use punishment as a form of reinforcement (do not select players who are not cohesive)
-set team goals
-select most cohesive team
-practice set plays
