Timbuktu was located near the niger river and it was one of the most important cities of the mali empire, so there was alot of trade there. timbuktu became the center of learning, timbuktu was known for its education

the early africans passed down their history through oral training because islalm promotes education and literal and many africans werent literate so they promoted education. they expressed themselves through dances and singing.
