🧮 Further Maths Flashcards
Math: how do you differentiate a fraction such as:
Fmath: what is the normal to a curve at a specific point
It is the line that is at right angles to the tangent of the curve at that point
Fmath: rationalise the denominator
Fmath: if you encounter a sqrt(x) when differentiation what do you write it as
x^1/2
Maths: how do you prove that a number is even
You show that its is a multiple of 2, such as; 2(5n+3)
Maths: how do you prove that a number is odd
You show that it is a multiple of 2 + a negative number 2n + 3 (but it should be 1)
Maths: what is the difference of squares
It is one square minus another
FMaths: what is the difference of 2 squares of a consecutive even and an odd number
(2n+1)^2 - (2n)^2
Fmaths: why do you use completing the square in algebraic proof
Squaring it makes it positive, completing the square can show this
Fmaths: what is the difference between an equation and an expression
An expression is true for all values and an equation is not
Fmath: how do you write k is a multiple of something else in algebraic proofs
k(x+1)
Fmath: matrix row by column or column by row
Row by column
