Actions (2)

A
  • Inhibits Na and Cl reabsorption in the proximal tubule and loop of Henle wich draws water with it and causes diuresis. This diuresis effect occurs about 10 mins after IV dose
  • Direct venodilating effects which decreases venous return to the heart (decrease preload). This effect is seen before the diuresis effect
