(Jin Gui) Shen Qi Wan
“KD qi pill (from golden cabinet)”
Ingredients:
Fu Zi (Zhi) (3g), Gui Zhi (3g),
Gan Di Huang (24g), Shan Zhu Yu (12g), Shan Yao (12g), Ze Xie (9g), Mu Dan Pi (9g), Fu Ling (9g)
= Almost Liu Wei Di Huang Wan
Function:
Warms and tonifies KD yang
Indication:
KD qi and yang deficiency syndromes
Aching and weakness of the lower back and knees, cold sensation in the lower half of the body, tenseness in the lower abdomen, either difficulty urination or excessive more severe at night, impotence, premature ejaculation chronic diarrhea.
Tongue: pale, swollen tongue with thin, white and moist coating
Pulse: empty or frail (submerged and faint at the proximal position)
Clinical applications:
1. It is the classical presentation of KD yang deficiency with insufficient Ming Men fire.
2. Currently used for chronic nephritis, diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperaldosteronism, sexual neurosis, genital disorder, chronic asthma, menopause symptoms.
Modifications:
For stronger result: omit Gan Di Huang & gui zhi, add Shu Di Huang and Rou Gui
For impotence: add Yin Yang Huo, Bu Gu Zhi, Ba Ji Tian.

You Gui Wan
“Restore the right (KD) pill”
Ingredients:
Fu Zi (Zhi) (6g), Rou Gui (6g), Lu Jiao (Jiao - gelatin) (12g),
Shu Di Huang (24g), Shan Zhu Yu (9g), Shan Yao (12g), Gou Qi Zi (9g), Tu Si Zi (12g), Du Zhong (12g), Dang Gui (9g)
Functions:
Warms and tonifies the KD yang, replenishes the essence (jing), and tonifies blood.
Indications:
KD yang deficiency with waning of the ming men fire syndrome.
Exhaustion from long-term illness, aversion to cold, coolness of the extremities, impotence, spermatorrhea, aching and weakness of the lower back and knees, possible infertility, loose stools (with undigested food), incontinence, and edema in lower extremities.
Tongue: pale, thin, white coating
Pulse: deep, slow, faint pulse
Clinical application:
1. Treats KD yang xu with insufficient Ming Men fire, most often seen in the elderly and those suffering from chronic disease.
2. Currently used for low back pain, anemia, nephritis, osteoporosis, infertility, and leukopenia.
Modifications:
You Gui Yin (“Restore the right (KD) drink)
Shu Di, Shan Yao, Shan Zhu Yu, Gou Qi ZI, Zhi Gan Cao, Du Zhong, Rou Gui, Zhi Fu Zi
-» For patterns of true cold and false heat. For KD yang xu with feebleness and exhaustion.
Qi xu? -> add Ren Shen
Spontaneous spermatorrhea or loose stool? -> add Bu Gu Zhi
Abdominal pain? -> Add Wu Zhu Yu
C/C:
KD qi xu with cloudy urination.
Er Xian Tang
“Two immortal decoction”
Ingredients:
Xian Cao (6-15g), Xian Ling Pi (9-15g), Ba Ji Tian (9g), Huang Bai (4.5g), Zhi Mu (4.5g), Dang Gui (9g)
Functions:
Warms KD yang, tonifies the essence, drains the KD fire and regulates Chong and Ren channels.
Indications:
Both KD yin and yang deficiencies with a flaring up the ming men fire syndrome.
Menopause symptoms including hypertension, irregular menstruation, hot flushes, night sweating, nervousness, fatigue, lassitude, depression, irritability, insomnia, palpitations, and frequent urination.

Clinical applications:
1. This tonifies KD yin and yang as well as drain deficiency fire, most often seen in the elderly and suffering from menopausal stage.
2. Used for perimenopausal syndrome, essential hypertension, polycystic KD, renal vascular disease, hyperthyroidism, UTI, and hypofunction of anterior pituitary.
Qi Bao Mei Ran Dan
“Seven-treasure special pill for beautiful whiskers”
Ingredients:
- He Shou Wu (1000g, soak red and white shou wu in rice water for 3-4 days and steam with black bean and dry it, repeated for 9 times)
- Gou Qi Zi (240g, white soaked and dry)
- Tu Si Zi (240g, wine soaked till spouting, mashed and dried)
- Niu Xi (240g, wine soaked and steam with Shou Wu at 7th time treatment)
- Dang Gui (240g, wine soaked and fried)
- Bu Gu Zhi (120g, fried with He Zhi Ma),
- Bai, Chi Fu Ling (500g/each, soak with 10 cups milk)
Function:
Tonifies KD yin and nourishes the LV blood, blackens the hair (LV blood) and replenishes the essence (jing).
Indication:
LV & KD deficiency symptoms
Premature greying of hair or hair loss, loose teeth, spontaneous and noctunal emissions, infertility caused by KD xu; soreness and weakess of the lower back and knees.

1. This treats premature graying hair, hair loss, loose teeth, weakness and soreness of lower back & knees, degenerated anemia.
2. Currently used for alopecia,, premature graying of the hair, impotence and infertility in male.
3. Take one pill with wine in the morning, one pill with ginger water at noon and one pill with salt water before bed time.
