Si Wu Tang
Ingredients:
Shu Di Huang (12g), Dang Gui (10g), Bai Shao (12g), Chuan Xiong (8g)
Functions:
Nourishes blood and regulates the LV blood.
Indications:
Chong & Ren channels deficiency or blood deficiency stagnation.
Irregular menses with little flow or amenorrhea, lower abdominal pain, dizziness, blurred vision. Also for hard abdominal masses with pain.
Tongue: Pale tongue
Pulse: Thin, wiry, choppy
Clinical applications:
1. This is the basis for tonifying the blood and regulating menses.
2. Used for dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, anemia or various etiologies.
C/C:
High fever with yin xu, profuse bleeding causing qi collapse.
Tao Hong Si Wu Tang
Modification of Si Wu Tang
Ingredients:
Shu Di Huang, Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao (replaces Bai Shao) + Tao Ren & Hong Hua (dui yao pair)
Function: Cases for more blood stagnation.
Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang
Ingredients:
Bai Shao (12-30g), Zhi Gan Cao (9-20g)
Functions:
Regulates qi and blood, moderates painful spasms, and alleviates pain.
Indications:
Muscle spasmodic pain due to LV blood and yin deficiency.
Irritability, slight chills, spasms of the calf muscles, cramps in hands and pain in the abdomen.
Tongue: Lack of coating
Pulse:
Clinical application:
1. Used for spasmodic or cramping pain accompanied by diarrhea with LV & SP disharmony.
2. Used for intercostal neuralgia, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia.
Modification:
Chi Shao replaces Bai Shao -> for yin xu with blood stagnation.
Sheng Yu Tang
Modification of Si Wu Tang
Ingredients:
Add Ren Shen, Huang Qi
Function:
For qi deficiency causing early period with copious and pale bleeding, weakness of limbs, fatigue.
Jiao Ai Tang
Modification of Si Wu Tang
Ingredients:
Add E Jiao, Ai Ye
Functions:
For restless fetus disorder with continuous bleeding from vagina
