An Gong Niu Huang Wan

“Calm the palace pill with cattle gallstone”

A

Ingredients:
Niu Huang (30g), She Xiang (7.5g), Xi Jiao (30g), Huang Lian (30g), Huang Qin (30g), Zhi Zi (30g), Bing Pien (7.5g), Yu Jin (30g), Zhu Sha (30g), Zhen Zhu (15g),
Xiong Huang (30g), Feng Mi, Jin Bo (each pill 3g)
Functions:
Clears heat, relieves toxicity, dislodges phlegm and opens the orifices.
Indication:
Evil heat sinking into PC syndrome (Wen Bing)
High fever, irritability and restlessness, delirious speech, impaired consciousness,coma due to wind-stroke, childhood convulsions, stiffness of the tongue and frigid extremities.
Tongue: red or deep-red tongue
Pulse: rapid
Clinical applications:
1. Used for combination of excess heat and phlegm obstruction which is a serious stage in warm-febrile disease with phlegm heat closing orifices.
2. Used for acute meningitis, epidemic encephalitis B, uremia, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), shizophrenia.
Modifications:
For constipation in yangming fu syndrome = add

Zi Xue Dan

“Purple snow special pill”

A

Ingredients:
Xi Jiao (Shui Niu Jiao), Ling Yang Jiao, Shi Gao, Hua Shi, Han Shui Shi, Xuan Shen, Sheng Ma, Mu Xiang, Ding Xiang, Chen Xiang, She Xiang, Zhu Sha, Ci Shi, Mang Xiao, Xiao Shi, Gan Cao, Huang Jin
Functions:
Clears heat, opens orifices, extinguishes wind, stops spasms and convulsions.
Indications:
Blazing evil heat sinking into PC and generates internal LV wind syndrome (severe condition)
High fever, irritability, restlessness, delirious speech, impaired consciousness, muscle twitches, spasms, convulsions, thirst, parched lips, dark urine, severe constipation, and childhood convulsion.
Tongue: deep red, dry and yellow coating
Pulse: forceful, rapid, wiry
Clinical applications:
1. Used for heat sinking into the interior body where disturbs shen and gives rise to irritability and restlessness.
2. Used for epidemic encephalitis B, meningitis, measles, scarlet fever, diphtheria, acute tonsillitis, hepatic coma.
C/C:
Should not be taken for a long time, pregnancy.

Zhi Bao Dan

“Greatest treasure special pill”

A

Ingredients:
Xi Jiao (30g), She Xiang (30g), Bing Pian (0.3g),
An Xi Xiang (45g), Niu Huang (15g), Dai Mao (30g), Zhu Sha (30g), Hu Po (30g), Xiong Huang (30g), Jin Bo (50pcs), Yin Bo (50pcs)
Functions:
Clears heat, opens sensory orifices, transforms turbidity, relieves toxicity.
Indication:
Phlegm-heat closed the PC syndrome
Impaired consciousness, delirious speech, fever, copious sputum with labored and raspy breathing, wind-stroke, summer-stroke, childhood convulsion (mild condition).
Tongue: red, or deep red; foul, greasy yellow coating.
Pulse: slippery, rapid
Clinical applications:
1. Used for heat sinking into PC, and heat & phlegm veil HT orifice; phlegm obstructing the pathway of qi; extreme heat may generate internal wind.
2. Used for epidemic encephalitis B, meningitis, uremia, cerebrovascular accident, pediatric and adult seizure, and hepatic coma.
C/C:
Pregnancy, LV yang rising convulsion
