Flexibility Training Methods Flashcards
Intergated flexability continuum
- Corrective flexability - Self - Myofascial Release , Static Stretching
- Active flexibility - Self - Myofascial release , Active Isolated Stretching
- Functional Flexabiliaty - Self Myofascial Release, Dyanmic Strecthing
corrective flexability
increases joint range of motion, improves muscle imbalances, and corrects altered joint motion , autogenic inhibition, use for phase one training
Active Flexibility -
Improves extensibility of soft tissue and increases neuromuscular efficiency , reciprocal inhibition. Use for phase 2-3-4 training
functional flexibility -
Maintains integrated multi-planar soft tissue extensibility and optimal neuromuscular control ; Full range of motiojn. use for phase 5 of trainingf
SMR
Gentle pressure breaks up knots within muscles and helps release unwanted tension ; autogentic inhibition
static strecthing
passively taking a muscle to the point of tension and holding the strecth for a minumum of 30 seconds, auto gentic inhibition
active - isolated - stretching
uses agonistis and synergists to dynamacially move hoints into a range of motion ; reciporal inhibitiion
Dynamic stretching
uses force production and momentum to move joints through full ranges of motion ; reciprocal inhibition
