Embyology lol Flashcards

1
Q

What do metanephrons become?

A

The permanent kidney
-begin to function weeks 9-11

Q

Mesonephrons: what do they form and how long do they function for?

Q

What forms the metanephrons?

A

Q

What is kidney agenesis?

A

Kidney agenesis is when a baby is missing one or oth kidneys at birth
-This can happen if URETERIC bud does not form

Q

Ascent of the kidneys (dun dun duuuun!!)

A

Kidneys start in the pelvis and then ascend to their final position
(blood supply is changing, as they ascend into the abdomen, the receive their blood supply from the aortic branches closest to them etc, if these branches don’t degenerate = accessory arteries)

16
Q

Urachal fistula?

A

When allantois canal fails to close I think. Basically pee passes from your bladder to the navel

17
Q

Urachal sinus

A

When the urachus does not close to seal the umbilicus

-can be asymptomatic or present with infection with abdominal pain and drainage of fluid

18
Q

Bladder defects?

A

Urachal fistula
Urachal cyst
Urachal sinus

19
Q

3 stages in kidney development?

A

Pronephrons
Mesonephrons
Metanephrons
