Elbow Special Tests Flashcards
What is Cozen’s Test?
LATERAL EPICONDYLITIS
Elbow in slight flexion, patient is asked to make a fist, prontate the forearm, radially deviate, and extend against resistance
What is the Lateral Epicondylitis Test? (maudsleys)
-PT stabilizes elbow with one hand and places the other hand on the dorsal aspect of the patients hand distal to the PIP. Pt extends the third digit against resistance
What is the Medial Epicondylitis Test?
-PT supinates the forearm, extends the wrist and extends teh elbow
PASSIVE
What is Mill’s Test?
-Pronate the forearm, flex the wrist, and extend the elbow
PASSIVE
Tests for lateral epicondylitis
What are the 4 elbow epicondylitis special tests?
What are the 3 elbow neurological dysfunction tests?
- Cozen’s Test
- Lateral Epicondylitis Test
- Mill’s Test (lateral epicondylitis)
- Medial Epicondylitis Test
- Elbow Flexion Test
- Pinch Grip Test
- Tinel’s Singn
What is the Elbow Flexion Test?
- Positive for Cubital Tunnel Syndrome if their is tingling or presthesia along the ULNAR NERVE Distribution
- Patient fully flexes both elbows while extending their wrists and holds position for 3-5 minutes
What is the Pinch Grip test?
-Pt is asked to pinch tips of index finger and thumb together, if they cannot pinch tip to tip instead doing pad to pad it is a positive test for ANTERIOR INTEROSSEOUS NERVE pathology
What is Tinel’s Sign?
Elbow in slight flexion. Tap finger between olecranon and medial epicondyle
Positive may indicate ulnar nerve compression or compromise
