Ankle Special Tests Flashcards
What are 3 ankle ligamentous instability tests?
- Anterior Drawer Test
- Lateral Rotation Stress Test (Kleiger Test)
- Talar Tilt Test
What is the position of the Anterior Drawer and what does + indicate?
20 degrees of PF
-indicates anterior talofibular ligament sprain
Excessive adduction during the talar tilt test may indicate what?
calcaneofibular ligament sprain
What is the Tibial Torsion Test?
What is normal lateral rotation of the tibia?
Pt sitting with the knees over the edge of the table. Pt places the thumb and index finger of one hand over the medial and lateral malleolus.
-PT measures the acute angle formed by the axes of knee and ankle
Normal lateral rotation is 12-18 degrees
What is a True Leg Length Discprepancy Test?
pt in supine with hips and knees extended, legs 15-20cm apart
-PT measures from distal pint of ASIS to distal point of medial malleoli
Positive: bilateral variation of greater than one centimeter indicating a true leg length discrepancy
