What is the Tibial Torsion Test?

What is normal lateral rotation of the tibia?

A

Pt sitting with the knees over the edge of the table. Pt places the thumb and index finger of one hand over the medial and lateral malleolus.
-PT measures the acute angle formed by the axes of knee and ankle

Normal lateral rotation is 12-18 degrees

What is a True Leg Length Discprepancy Test?

A

pt in supine with hips and knees extended, legs 15-20cm apart
-PT measures from distal pint of ASIS to distal point of medial malleoli

Positive: bilateral variation of greater than one centimeter indicating a true leg length discrepancy
