What is a disaster?
It’s a sudden and unplanned event that causes great damage or a serious loss.
What may an organization fail to provide after a disaster?
After a disaster an organization may fail to provide critical functions for some pre-defined minimum period.
What is a disaster recovery plan?
A set of clearly defined plans on how an organization will recover from a disaster as well as return to a pre-disaster condition, in accordance with the 4 dimensions of service management.
What is RTO?
Recovery time objective: it’s the maximum acceptable period of time, before that, the lack of business functionality, starts to serverely impact an organization.
What is RPO?
Recovery point objective: the point to which the information used by an activity must be restored in order to enable the activity to resume (restart).
Definition of recovery
The activity of returning a configuration item or service to normal operation.
What is MTRS?
Mean Time to Restore a Service: how quickly a service is restored after a failure.
What does the support team do?
It’s in charge for:
- Maintaining normal operation
- Addressing users’ requests
- Resolve incidents and problems
What is BIA?
Business Impact analysis: it’s a key activity in the practice of service continuity management because it identifies vital functions and their dependences.
Better definition of business case
A document with business justification of expenditures and investiments in order to provide IT services which includes costs and benefits but also risks and issues.
