Oxalate
When is the nutritional objective to reduce the formation of stones
In the case of everything bar struvite!! Silicate Urate Cysteine Oxalate
How do you nutritionally reduce the formation of stones (4)
- Decr protein (11%)- only give easily digestible and HBV, therefore the amount of S containing and purine will decrease
- Control protein def
- Decr calcium
- Alkalisation
What is the nutritional objective in the case of struvite stones? (And what is struvite composed of?)
Struvite is Mg ammonium sulphate
First dissolve the stones, then prevent recurrences
How do you nutritionally treat the struvite stones (5)
- Dissolve the struvite: incr ME, decr P, get pH to 6 with NH4Cl and Methionine (the acid destroys the struvite)
- RSS= relative supersaturation value decr P (K)
- Decr Mg
- Incr Na
