Non- modifiable risk factors of diabetes
Familial, age, gender, post-menopausal.
Modifiable risk factors of diabetes
Smoking, hypertension, dyslipidaemia (cholesterol), obesity, physical inactivity, excessive alcohol, stress.
What is diabetes mellitus?
A disorder of the pancreas where there is an inadequate amount of insulin being produced.
What is diabetes insipidus?
A disorder of the endocrine system where there is an inadequate amount of anti-diuretic hormone. There is normal blood glucose but excessive thirst and dilute urine.

Secrete the hormone insulin which lowers blood glucose level.
