How do you define delusional disorder? (2)
Long standing delusions
Delusion last for at least 1 month
What symptoms are NOT present to confirm diagnosis? (4)
Persistant auditory hallucinations
Delusions of control - false belief that another person, group of people, or external force controls one’s general thoughts, feelings, impulses, or behaviour.
Blunting of affect - educed emotional reactivity in an individual.
Evidence of brain disease.
What is the most common type of delusional disorder?
Persecutory (mistreatment)
What is Othello syndrome?
Morbid jealous that partner/spouse is unfaithful
De Clerambault’s syndrome?
Believe someone is in love with them, often with higher power/famous – uses secret communication
Capgras syndrome?
Relative/ spouse/ close relation/ friend replaced by identical looking double or impostor
Fregoli’s syndrome?
Different people are a single person who changes appearance or is in disguise
Cotard’s syndrome?
Think they’re dead, rotting, non-existent, loss of body parts
Associated with depression
Ekboms syndrome?
Believe they are infested with parasites – feel pruritis and prurigo
House also infected = delusional cleptoparasitosis
Risk of self harm trying to get rid of parasites
Presents to dermatologists
Folie deux?
Symptoms of delusion are passed on to second person
