What is an AIS A injury?
Complete spinal cord
What is an AIS B injury?
Sensory incomplete (no motor function)
What is an AIS C injury?
Motor incomplete (less than half of muscles have a 3 or more)
What is an AIS D injury?
Motor incomplete (more than half of motor has a 3 or better)
What does damage to thermoregulation result in?
Loss of ability to shiver and loss of sweating
What is poikilothermia?
When you take on the temperature of the environment
How can you help with respiratory problems post SCI?
Encourage diaphragmatic breathing
Use inspiratory muscle trainer
Place weight on diaphragm (low weight)
What is the required PROM of someone with a cervical SCI?
Shoulder, elbow, and wrist extension with finger flexion
What’s the goal of a SLR in SCI?
100-110°
Why is it bad if the pelvis starts to posteriorly tilt during SLR?
You are stretching out the back extensors and you want them tight to aid with transfers
