Patients who require complex, intensive care (needs of ventilator or of additional medical problems)

Patient can tolerate 3 hours of therapy from PTs, OTs, and SLP (neuro, burn, or trauma patients)
What kind of patient is appropriate for a skilled nursing facility?
Patient can only tolerate 1.5 hours of therapy a day (focuses on managing ADLs)
What kind of patient is appropriate for a long term care/nursing home?
Patient is unable to return home and requires continued supervision
What kind of patient is appropriate for home health?
Patient is able to be discharged home but is unable to leave the house for therapy
What kind of patient is appropriate for outpatient?
Patient needs therapy and can leave the house
What kind of patient is appropriate for day rehab?
Patient continues to require therapy and supervision during the day
