Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS)
Genetic heart condition
Causes sudden death in young, healthy people
No disease affecting heart structure
Affects the hearts natural normal rhythm becomes disrupted- heart stops beating
e.g. Fabrice Muamba
Hypertension
High blood pressure
Too much force can be put on the heart & arteries
Hypotension
Low blood pressure
Blood is moving slowly around the body restricting flow of blood to vital organs
Symptoms: feeling dizzy, fainting, tiredness
May find it hard for their heart to respond to exercise
- muscles do not receive the oxygen they require
Hyperthermia
Prolonged increase in body temp
CV system controls body temp
Exercising in extreme heat- hard to regulate body temp
Incorrect clothing- may trap heat
Hypothermia
Body becomes cold
Core temp below 35°C
Shivering, confusion, reduces BP & arrhythmias
Occurs in cold environments without correct clothing
