- Bus system costs 200 times less than a metro system

Transport management
- 80% of commuters use the BRT (50 times higher than the numbers who used buses previously)

- Subways can cost $2 billion/mile whereas the BRT cost $40million/mile

Negatives
. Between 2008 and 2014, the bus system has lost 14 million users
. Car ownership in Curitiba is 0.63 cars per resident compared with a national average of 0.27 cars per resident
. This has come about due to increasing levels of wealth in the city (Curitiba now has the second highest HDI ranking in Brazil)
. The city spends more on landscaping than it does on housing so there are 10 –15% of the population living in sub-standard housing
. BRT is criticized for stopping at the city limits rather than extending into the poorer suburbs
