A
where there are 2 horns to the uterus

complications of bicornuate uterus?
A
pregnancy related:
- miscarriage
- premature birth
- malpresentation

what is an imperforate hymen?
A
when the hymen at opening of vagina is completely formed without any opening

diagnosis of imperforate hymen?
A
- typically when girls start to menstruate & blood cannot escape–> can lead to retrograde menstruation
- diagnosed by simple examination

treatment of imperforate hymen?
A
surgical incision to create opening

what is transverse vaginal septae?
A
septal wall forms transversely across vagina

how does transverse vaginal septum present?
A
- perforate- girls will menstruate but may have difficulty inserting tampon or having sex
- imperforate- as imperforate hymen

diagnosis and mx of transverse vaginal septae?
A
- simple examination, US or MRI
- Mx= surgical correction

what is vaginal agenesis?
A
absence of vagina- ovaries remain in place so female sexual hormones are unaffected
