E - ETHICAL: is your decision ethical and in compliance with SAPOL policy and procedure? Is it consistent with organisational values?
L - LAWFUL: Is you decision having regard for the law?
F - FAIR: Is your decision fair on the community, SAPOL, your colleagues, family, self and others?

Define the Code of Conduct Statements

A
  1. Act with honesty and integrity
  2. Conduct self in a profession manner
  3. Carry out duties promptly and be receptive and responsive to lawful orders and instructions
  4. Perform duties in a diligent and competent manner
  5. Act within the powers and authorities given to them by law and in accordance with SAPOL policies and procedures
  6. Respect diversity within the workplace by recognising all people are entitled to courtesy, and fair and equal treatment
  7. Avoid and report any possible conflicts of interest
  8. Not improperly obtain or set to obtain, a benefit or advantage
  9. Maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained in the course of police duties
  10. Be responsible for the proper use and treatment of any property, equipment or assets in their care or custody
  11. Take such action as is necessary and reasonable with respect to other members of SAPOL who fail to meet expected standards
  12. Avoid any conduct when interstate or overseas that is likely to bring discredit upon SAPOL
