What is abduction?
Movement of a joint away from the trunk of the body.
What is adduction?
Movement of a joint towards the trunk of the body.
What is flexion?
Bending a joint; decreasing the angle between two bones.
What is extension?
Straightening a joint; increasing the angle between two bones.
What is hyperextension?
The joint extends beyond its normal range of motion.
What is lateral flexion?
Bending sideways, away from the midline.
What is dorsiflexion?
The foot is moved upwards; toes to shin.
What is medial rotation?
Moving towards the midline (internal rotation).
What is plantar flexion?
The foot is moved downwards; toes to ground.
What is lateral rotation?
Moving away from the midline (external rotation).
What is supination?
Palm facing upwards (asking for soup).
What is pronation?
Palm facing downwards (like you’re a pro athlete)
What is inversion?
Sole of the foot faces inward, towards the midline.
What is eversion?
Sole of the foot faces outward, away from the midline.
What is protraction?
Moving a body part forward, away from the central axis.
