What is the motorway?
It is a public road with high-speed traffic. The start of access is indicated with the squared blue signs which look like a peaje.
What is the maximum and minimum speed limit of a motorway?
The max. is 120 km/h and the min. is 70 km/h.
What is the smog maximum speed?
In the case of smog, the max. speed limit can change to 90 kph for one or several days.
What are studded tires?
Special tires for winter for cars up to 3.5tons, which can be placed between 01/11 and 31/03.
The maximum speed is 90 km/h for 2x2 lanes and 60 km/h on regular roads.
What is the breakdown lane/hard shoulder?
A special area on the side of the road, limited with a solid white line. This area is designated for an accident or when your car is broken down. You can not drive, park or wait there.
Where to place the warning triangle in case of a breakdown?
The red triangle must be placed 100 meters behind the car in a motorway or 30 m on a regular road.
Always visible for oncoming traffic from a distance of 50m.
When is mandatory the reflective safety jacket?
A driver who leaves the vehicle must wear a reflective safety jacket and every car must have at least one.
What is the emergency number on the road?

What is a rush-hour lane?
The emergency lane (marked by a dashed discontinuous line) can be used for normal traffic in rush hours.
If you are allowed to drive there will be a green arrow, otherwise, you will have a red cross.
Are motorcycles allowed to drive within the cars?
Only in queues. At a maximum speed of 50 km/h or 20 km/h faster than the other vehicles.
Are you allowed to drive with a temporary driving license on a motorway?
Yes.
