Chapter 12 Flashcards
What is the max. and min. speed limit on a motorway?
Max. 120 kph
Min. 70 kph (Or slower in case of traffic, fog or a specific instruction).
Is the speed on an exit always 120 kph?
No. Sometimes there can be signs that indicate the maximum speed on an exit.
What is the maximum speed with studded tires?
On a motorway and road with central verge: 90 kph.
On a regular road: 60 kph.
What is the minimum speed limit on an express road?
there is no minimum speed limit.
What are the three scenarios for maximum speed on an express road?
When there are at least two lanes and a central verge: Max. 120kph.
When there are at least two lanes and central verge, and a sign: the speed indicated by the sign.
When there are at least two lanes but NO central verge:
Flanders > 70 kph
Wallonia and Brussels > 90 kph.
What is the maximum speed within a built-up area?
50 kph.
What is the maximum speed on a regular road?
Flanders > 70 kph
Wallonia and Brussels > 90 kph.
When there is a sign which one overrules?
Some signs can impose a speed limit e.g. at 200m until the next junction.
Then the driver must obey the plate’s speed limit.
What is the maximum speed in a residential area?
20 kph.
Pedestrians can walk and children can play on the road.
The max. speed limit within a built-up area can change?
Yes. Normally is 50 kph but if a sign with the built-up area draw indicates the contrary, then the driver must follow that instruction.
What is the maximum speed on a “zone”?
It depends on what the sign indicates (normally 30 kph) and it applies day and night unless there is an electronic sign; then only when the sign is on.
What is the speed limit on a hump?
30 kph (On the hump, not before nor after, although you must break). There will be a red triangle 150m before and a blue one on the hump.
On a pedestrian zone, a play, and schools street, what is the maximum speed?
At walking pace. Although in some places (play and school street) is not allowed to drive.
What is the maximum speed on a bicycle street?
30 kph.
Explain the immediate temporary suspension
When you drive:
30 kph above the speed limit on motorways, express roads, and regular roads.
20 kph above the speed limit on a built-up area, 30 zones, or in a residential area.
A POLICEMAN will make the immediate suspension.
