Chapter 22 Flashcards
Right of way for trains.
They always have the right to go.
The signs can indicate when there is a crossing point with one (single x) or multiple rails (double X).
When the white flashing light is on, you may pass.
When the red flashing lights are on, and/or the barriers and the bell… A train is coming or passing already and you can not cross
Routes of buses and trams
There are special lanes reserved on the roads for buses and trams. Indicated with a solid white line.
In these lanes, you can NOT drive, wait or park.
Neither you can overtake with the last meters before a junction.
You CAN cross to get your own property or avoid an obstacle.
There is a distinction with the bus lane, marked with dashed lines where you cant park or drive there, but you can drive near a junction when you can to turn left of right.
Motorway with a specifically reserved lane
The emergency lane on a motorway can be used as a reserved lane for buses, taxis, school buses, or work buses.
This will be indicated by a plate, a continuous solid line, and the red cross above.
Some of these lanes can have a specific speed limit, but this doesn’t apply for other drivers (e.g. the reserved lane can be up to 50 kph, but the rest must go at 120 kph).
Priority with the trams
Tram drivers follow only the instructions of an authorized person and the traffic lights (not the traffic regulations).
They have always the priority to drive on.
Are you allowed to drive at a bus stop?
Yes.
Are you allowed to park and wait at a bus stop?
Yes, but 15 m before and after the bus stop.
You can K&R at the bus stop but quickly.
What is the priority for buses?
Withing a built-up area you have to give priority to the bus leaving in the bus stop and heading the same direction as you. This does not apply to other buses (coaches, employees, school).
Outside the built-up area, you DONT have to give priority to a bus resuming its route.
