Chapter 2 Flashcards
How is the public road divided?
The public road is divided into lanes which are marked by solid or dashed white lines.
What is a carriageway?
Several lanes can compromise a carriageway. And they can be separated from each other by a non-vehicle accessible space.
When is overtaking allowed?
Only when there is a broken line separating the lanes.
When there is a broken line next to a solid line, you can overtake it as long as it is on your side.
What is zipping?
When there is a lane reduction or road work.
This is done by letting the car which is not on the lane come in the available lane.
When the lane available is in the center, then the priority is given to the one on the right, then the other one on the left, and then the one in the center… like zigzagging.
What is a bus lane?
special lane for buses.
You are not allowed to drive, park or wait here, only the last meters before a junction or to overpass an obstacle.
What is a traffic displacement area?
This is a solid slanting white line area. You are not allowed to drive, wait or park. (Resembles a fish spine)
What are the solid orange lines on the road?
When there are road works, temporary orange lines are painted to mark the lane. These orange lines overrule the white ones on a road.
