How is the difference between parking, waiting and stopping?
Waiting is the time needed to drop off or in quickly a person.
Also, the time to load or unload goods.
Parking is when it takes longer to let passengers out or unload goods.
Stopping occurs when a car is stopped on a traffic light or behind a bus that is at the bus stop.
What is an immobilized vehicle?
A car that has stopped because of an accidents, broken down or any other reason.
It must be signaled with a orange triangle and it is not considered on the waiting or parking classification.
Are you allowed to wait or park on the verge?
Yes. Within the built up area on the verge.
Outside the built up area on the verge and raised verge.
Are you allowed to wait or park on the area marked with solid white line on the lane?
Yes. Only on the area separated with the solid white line.
Are you allowed to park partly on the verge and partly on the road?
Yes. When the verge is not wide enough you can park partly on the lane. BUT you must allow at leas 1.5m free passage for the pedestrians.
Are you allowed to park both sides on a one way street?
Yes.
Are you allowed to park on the motorway or express road?
No. Not on the lanes, access or exit lanes, or emergency lanes.
Are you allowed to park on the pavement footpath or a raised verge?
No. You are not allowed to park where the pedestrians pass.
You can park on a raised verge, outside the built-up area.
Are you allowed to park on a cycle lane, a bus lane or a special reserved route?
No. In the cycles lane definitely no.
On the bus lane you can only drive to make a turn or overpass an obstacle.
Are you allowed to park on a displacement area or traffic island?
No.
Are you allowed to park at the start or end of a cycle lane?
No. You must leave 5 meters before and after free for cyclist to pass.
Are you allowed to park on a level crossing?
No.
Are you allowed to park at a junction without traffic lights?
You must leave 5 m at all the sides of the junctions.
Are you allowed to park at a junction with traffic lights?
You can not wait or park 20 m before the traffic light.
Are you allowed to park at a traffic light (without any junction or crossroad near)?
Yes, as long as the traffic light or sign is 2 m high and the car behind you is not higher than 1.65m.
