label : date, name etc
which dental instrument should never be placed in the ultrasonic machine?
handpiece/drill
should only be handwashed
Holding solution
a solution that you place contaminated dirty instruments in until you have time to properly sterilize them
what can be used as holding solution?
soap water (detergent and water)
what is the purpose of a holding solultion?
prevents drying of blood and debris on instruments
what is the LEAST desirable method of cleaning dental instruments?
handscrubbing
what does the ultrasonic cleaner do?
it loosens bioburden and debris
can you use other chemicals in the ultrasonic cleaner when it is working?
no you must not use other chemicals in it
how often should you discard ultrasonic cleaner solution?
once a day and when solution becomes cloudy
how should you test an ultrasonic cleaner to make sure it is working properly?
by using a square piece of alumimun foil and dipping it halfway in for 20 seconds. if pebbling that is present isnt even or there is no pebbling at all, it means the machine isn’t working properly. 1/2 inch
unwrapped cycle ( or flash sterilization)
