Lineær model of a communication process
One Way model
Sender, Channel with noise, receiver
e.g lecture, letter with no return, hitler speach
Interactive model of communication process
+ field of experience
Two way process
Sender - noise - field of experience - receiver - feedback (not simultaneously)
Field of experience: cultural background, location, travel distance for message and personal experiences
Transactional model of communication
We are both sender and receiver - happen simultaneously - each have individual and shared field of experience(experiences and symbols e.g.) + noise
Encode decode
Encode: thought into a message that can be understood by receiver
Decode: message into thoughts to make a meaning and understand
Communication channel
Where message travels
Smell touch sound and sight - wave, commercial in paper, smell of newly baked cookies
Semantic noise
Slang, symbols used by groups may result in a message wrong understood
Physical noise
something physical with the receiver that prevent message from being received as intended e.g. Blind deaf stressed
Psychological noise
Attitudes against message or sender + a mood can affect the message
Physiological noise (bio)
If receiver or sender is has a physiological need e.g. Hungry or if the person is e.g. ill
Ethics
Perceived rightness or wrongness of an action or behavior - e.g. Entertainment -does viewing violence in movies prompt violence in society?
