Ch 6B - Anaerobic Fermentation Flashcards
1
Q
anaerobic fermentation
A
involves the breakdown of glucose and ATP production via
glycolysis in the absence of oxygen. It allows for the replenishment of NAD+ for continued
use in glycolysis.
2
Q
variation og AF in yeast vs animals
A
conversion of pyruvate to lactic acid in animals, and
to ethanol and carbon dioxide in yeast. In doing so, both pathways regenerate NAD+ for
anaerobic glycolysis.
