Q

What is the electrostatic value intracellularly vs extracellularly?

A

-35mV to -90mV depening on the cell type Therefore +ve ions will try to enter the cell

Q

Primary active transport example

A

Na-K-ATPase pump. 3 Na+ out for 2 K+ in. ATP->ADP + Pi.

Q

Secondary active transport examples

A

Co-transport. e.g. Glucose and Na+ enter cell.

Counter-transport. e.g. Ca-Na exhange. Na+ leaves cell + K+ enters. Na+ enters cell and Ca2+ leaves cell.
