Cell-mediated Immunity Flashcards
1
Q
Describe the process of cell-mediated immunity
3 steps
A
Antigen from the pathogen is displayed on the cell surface of phagocytes after phagocytosis
T cells with the correct specific receptor bind with the antigen and are activated
They divide by mitosis (clonal expansion) and differentiate into T helper, cytotoxic and memory cells.

Q
What is cell-mediated immunity?
A
the immune response that does not involve antibodies but is the activation of phagocytes, T-lymphocytes, and the release of cytokines in response to an antigen
