Cardiology AV Node Flashcards
What chagorises a 1st degree AV block
This is where there is a longer delay at our AV node. Resulting in a longer than norm >0.20 secs PRI
The elongation is always consistent and usually is associated with a 1:1 conduction between P waves and QRS complexes
What charagorizes a 2nd degree type 1 heart block
This is also called Wenbacke
This is where the PRI gets progressively longer and then eventually drops. So a P wave will not get conducted into a corresponding QRS
This drop happens becaase eventually the P wave will hit on the refractory period of the AV node so no conduction will go through
What is a 2nd degree type 2
Also known as a mobitz type 2 this is where there are norm PRI but the P waves to not always correlate to a corresponding QRS complex
What is 3RD degree heart block
This is where there is no relationship between the artia and the ventricles.
As a result there is pace maker cells in the lower areas of the heart
