CAD cardiovascular Flashcards
What are some medical and trauma related conditions for Cardio vascular
What signifies us to do a RMA
GCS 3 (unconscious)
unable to reliably rleay cheif complaint
Pt’s who look status 1
What are some risk factors for cardio vascular disease
Do we just look at the chest in a cardiovascular assessment
No
As we do look at the chest, look for any discomfort, chest pain, bruising, or or breathing. we should also look at the other signs.

Abdomen (Acieties)
tar staining (smoking)
What are the 4 points for the Heart sounds
What are some potential causes for postural Blood pressure
Hypovolemia
Assisons disease
Neuropathies
Idiopathic
(Initally sit or lie and take BP and then ask them to stand and then take the BP again)
When would be take Bilaterial BP?
Suspecting some directing aneurism like a AAA then we could take bilateral BP’s
It is only significance if there is a 20mmHg difference between the arms
What are some conditions for asking patients with a cardiovascular disease

Squeezing
Pressure/constriction
Burning
Pain radiating into the neck or shoulder blades or jaw (not changing with GTN or Pain relief)

What is a Aortic Dissection
This is where there is a tear in the artery wall and the blood can leak into the arterial wall
Signs:

Shortness of breath
Altered LOC
Diaphoresis
Rapid weak pulse
Important to consider:
Bilateral pulses and BP
Check both pedal pulse
AAA Beware of the TRIAD
HYPOTENTION, ABDO/BACK PAIN, PULSATILE MASS
