C1.3 Photosynthesis Flashcards
Limiting factors of photosynthesis
Temperature, light intensity, carbon dioxide concentration
Photosystem I
Reduces NADP+ → Creates NADPH - used in Calvin cycle.
Photosystem II
Splits water → Produces O₂ + creates ATP.
Thylakoid
Sac-like vesicle, appearing flattened arranged in stacks within chloroplasts. Contain photosystems.
Rubisco
Rubisco is an enzyme that catalyzes the first step of the Calvin cycle (producing glucose) in photosynthesis.
Stroma
Liquid surrounding thylakoid
The Calvin cycle (light-independent)
Produces carbohydrates utilizing NADPH, ATP, and Rubisco
Triose phosphate
Used to regenerate RuBP in the Calvin cycle
Photolysis
Process in which photons break down inorganic chemicals, generating electrons for use in the light-dependent reactions
