Summarise the practice of flexi time
Where employees have to work a set amount of hours in a week or year and the employees can pick when they do them however some hours may be set in stone
Outline how flexi time might lead to communication issues
Employees that need to have meetings and talking may not be in at the same time and it can also slow down Email comunication
Identify one advantage and one disadvantage of remote working to both the employee and the employer
Advantage- employee- it allows them to decide when they work and when they don’t, great if they have kids ect.
- employer- staff are less likely to be later or need to take time off
Disadvantage- employee- they may find it hard to work with others if they are in at random times
Employer- there might be times in the day when no one is in the building but there needs to be
Describe one benefit of job sharing
Employees are able to work the hours or days that suit them and therefore a business can gain the staff it needs
Outline why job sharing may lead to inconsistency
It may be difficult to get two employees that want to work the Opposite Day
Outline the difference between compressed and annualised hours
Annualised hours are a set amount of hours you have to work in the whole where as compressed hours is the amount of hours you have to work a week and you can pick and choose when you complete them in the week
Identify one advantage and one disadvantage of zero hour contracts to both the employee and the employer
Advantage- employer- it reduces the administrative costs of employing labour on a full-time basis
Employee- they have units of labour readily available when required
Disadvantage- employer- employees don’t have to work so can be times where they don’t have anyone
- employee- no greeted pay
State what is meant by structured time off in lieu
It is where employees are asked to work some days longer but then they may get a day off or a half day in return
Describe the difference between term time and part time working
Term time is based on the school year and when they have holidays, where as part time is working a set amount with set days e.g Monday Tuesday Thursday every week
Explain how flexible working might help a business to retain staff
It will allow the employees to be more in control of when they are working, for example if they have kids if will help to spend more time with them and therefore be less likely to then leave
Identify two other possible impacts to business of allowing staff to work flexibly
Staff moral may be boosted due to them feeling more energetic and refreshed.
