the permanent dilation and thickening of bronchi due to destruction of the bronchial wall
what does persistent airway ifnlammation lead to

what is a connective tissue disorder cuase
rheumatoid arthritis

productive cough with lots of sputum febrile episodes halitosis clubbing coarse crackles hemoptysis SOB
where are the crackles heard
lung bases
investigations
CXR

sputum examination
what is seen on CT
signet ring sign - bronchiole wider than neighbouring arteriole
treatment
- Antibiotics
- Bronchodilators
- Corticosteroids
- Postural Drainage
- Surgery (if indicated)
what antibiotics
ciprofloxacin or cefaclor
what do we treat pseudomonas with
ciprofloxacin or gentamicin
what does upper lobe bronchiectasis mean
CF or TB
middle lobe bronchiectasis
immotile cilia syndrome, mycobacterium avian complex infection
lower lobe bronchiectasis
interstitial lung disease, congenital immune deficiency, recurrent aspiration
what is ABPA
Hypersensitivity reaction where the bronchi are colonised by Aspergillus.
