What are some things to consider as a coach or trainer to avoid negative body image?
- avoid “fat talk”
- a multi-disciplinary approach (physician, nutritionist, mental health professional)
- think about your attitudes toward weight maintenance/loss/gain on a daily basis
- try to create a “body image-friendly” environment
What is person perception?

What are some perceptual distortions?
- stereotyping
- halo effect: assigning characteristics to an individual because of prior behaviour/performance
How does stereotyping work?
others characteristics/labels ⟶ experiences ⟶ impression of others ⟶ experiences ⟶ expectations of others
